Ashley Judd Reveals her Mother Naomi Judd died by Suicide

Naomi Judd, a Grammy-winning country music artist, died last month, and her daughter Ashley Judd said her mother died of “mental illness.” Ms. Judd became more public on Thursday, claiming in a television interview that her mother died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at her Tennessee home and urging anyone who could get treatment.

Ashley Judd appeared on “Good Morning America” with Diane Sawyer to discuss her mother’s passing and how the Judd family has been dealing with it for several weeks. Her family, she added, wanted to keep the facts about the death under wraps until the autopsy was completed.

Ashley acknowledged that if an autopsy was released, the public would know her mother had committed suicide, but she wanted to keep the news under her control.

“We’re too embarrassed to say anything, but we recognize that if we don’t say something, someone else will,” Ashley added.

Jude was shot in his house in Leipers Fork, Tennessee, on April 30, 2022, at the age of 76. She struggled with despair, anxiety, panic attacks, and suicidal thoughts.

Naomi Judd, along with her daughter Winona, formed the famed pair The Judd’s. In the 1980s, he ruled the country charts until Naomi Judd was diagnosed with hepatitis C in 1991. In April, a day before he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame, his death was revealed.

During the induction, Winona informed the audience, “I didn’t prepare anything tonight since I knew Mom would probably talk the most.” “Because my heart is broken and I am so blessed, I am going to complete this fast. It’s an odd dynamic; it’s both broken and blessed… Despite my damaged heart, I’ll continue to sing since that’s what we do.”
